Is Morzine good for beginners?

It’s excellent.

The Morzine ski area has quick uplift from the resort to the learning slopes via one high-speed bubble lift, and there’s immediate access to a learning slope with a magic carpet for mastering speed control.

  • Progressive slopes with gentle chairlift access to perfect turning and technique
  • Easily accessed cafés nearby for resting and refreshments
  • Ski shops with storage to deposit your equipment at the end of the day
  • Awesome ski schools for all levels and all people
  • Longer beginner slopes around the Super Morzine and Avoriaz side, with higher altitudes making for better snow conditions

Why is Morzine a great place to start skiing?

Access and progression. It’s very little faff to get onto the slopes from the centre of resort, and there are great links between Morzine and the neighbouring resorts of Les Gets and Avoriaz.

It’s a progressive ski area too — you have everything from a beginner’s paradise to an off-piste playground. You can start gentle and never run out of room to grow into.

I’ve got all the gear on. Now what do I do?

Book lessons or ski camps.

Skiing has a lot of unintuitive movements for most people. One of the main reasons for your trip is to make some awesome memories skiing down beautiful slopes with your friends and family — take lessons with a pro and you won’t regret it.

Where should I start practising?

Depends on your level, but aim for a run where speed control isn’t a problem. Test your skills on easy slopes before testing your nerve on hard slopes. Your instructor should give you lots of practice activities you can tick off before moving up to the next level.

A few go-to practice slopes with quick turn-around:

  • Pleney — Piste B and D, Morzine
  • Rhodos — Les Gets
  • Bleue du Lac — Avoriaz
  • Linga — Chatel (for the more advanced)

Where do we meet you for ski lessons?

Right at the top of the main bubble lifts — Pleney Bubble in Morzine, Prodains in Avoriaz, or Chavannes in Les Gets. Your instructor welcomes you on the snow and between you, you decide how to get the most out of your time with us.
